Soviet historical biopic, Eisenstein’s last film. Part 1 was released in 1945, Part 2 in 1958. Fragments of the unfinished third part have been preserved. The film is in black and white, except for one scene in the second part (“The Dance of the Oprichniks”) and the final episode. The film has been restored by Mosfilm in 1987.
